Terms of Service

Version 1.0.0 · Effective 19 August 2026 · Canada and the United States

These terms apply when you use the Almanac device or the Almanac companion app. Please read them. If you do not agree with them, do not use Almanac.

1. Acceptance and eligibility

By creating an account or using the Almanac device or app, you agree to these Terms. You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. Each device has one account owner.

2. The service

Almanac is a physical e-ink calendar and a companion app that fetch and display events from the calendar accounts you connect — Google, Apple iCloud, Microsoft, CalDAV, or a published ICS feed.

Almanac displays your calendars; it is not the system of record for them. Display accuracy depends on those third-party providers, on your network, and on your device having power. We do not guarantee that the display is always current or free of errors. Do not rely on Almanac alone for anything time-critical.

3. Your account and the people you invite

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for the conduct of anyone you invite into your household. You confirm you have the authority to invite the people you add. Each invited person must accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy for their own region before any of their calendar data is shown on the device.

4. Third-party services

Google, Apple, Microsoft, and other calendar providers govern their own services under their own terms, which you must follow. We are not responsible for their outages, their changes, or their decisions about your account. If a provider changes or withdraws access, the corresponding Almanac feature may stop working.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use Almanac unlawfully, attempt to breach or probe its security, interfere with other users, or resell, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the device software.

6. Intellectual property

Almanac owns the software, the brand, and the designs. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use them with your device for as long as these Terms are in force.

7. Warranties and disclaimers

Hardware is covered by its separate limited warranty. The software is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Almanac is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including any missed appointment or event. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including, in Canada, rights you have under applicable consumer-protection legislation.

9. Termination

Either party may terminate at any time. You may delete your account from within the app or by contacting us. On termination we remove your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes require your renewed acceptance, and we record which version you accepted.

11. Governing law

Canada. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

United States. For users resident in the United States, these Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except where the mandatory law of your state of residence provides otherwise.
